A Franklin Hatchett eCom Elites Review – is Dropshipping worth your time?

A Franklin Hatchett eCom Elites

“Entrepreneurship is living a few years of your life like most people won’t, so that you can spend the rest of your life like most people can’t.” – Unknown

Today’s review will be a complete breakdown of eCom Elites.

This course is budget friendly and quite extensive, but is it worth your time?

Let me stress that I am not affiliated in ANY way to Franklin Hatchett and I definitely do NOT receive any compensation for my reviews.

I do them to help my fellow entrepreneurs make the best educated decision for their future.

So let’s drop in and begin this review by learning a little bit about Franklin Hatchett, dropshipping, and the eCom Elite course!

Quick Navigation

A Franklin Hatchett eCom Elites

But first! Who is Franklin Hatchett

Franklin Hatchett may just be one of the original dropshippers who has made it a successful career.

Now this dropshipping mentor has created his own course to help you on your journey.

This New Zealand native has made serious money with multiple streams of income, which any entrepreneur worth his salt will tell you is the ultimate way to go if you want a lifestyle of your dreams.

He has made his mark with his own brand, Franklin Hatchett course: Savage Affiliates and eCom Elites.

Both courses are affordable and offer a lot of content. Since most affiliates won’t disclose their websites, there is no way to officially know the net worth of Frank.

However, there is proof that he is part of the two comma club so it’s a fair guess to think he makes a nice milly (or more) every year from his dropshipping stores, affiliate work, and courses.

Frank is not shy to let his audience know success doesn’t come overnight.

He tells it to you straight, it comes with hard work, time, and dedication. He is happy to share his personal three step philosophy on how he built his empire.

  • Start taking action
  • Stop blaming other people
  • Stop watching T.V.

Now he may advise against watching television, however that doesn’t translate to stop watching YouTube as his very active channel has over 174k subscribers.

Which earns him up to $4,000 a month, if you are gonna follow a guru….you could do a whole lot worse than Franklin Hatchett.

So if you have made it to this review, odds are you have checked out a few other Franklin Hatchett reviews and are fairly new to the dropshipping scene.

So let me illuminate you to what exactly dropshipping is before we continue on. Dropshipping is a retail fulfilment method where a store doesn’t keep the products it sells in stock.

Instead those orders get sent to a third-party who ships directly to the consumer from the manufacturer.

This works great for people who want to start an apparel store but do not have room to store a bunch of inventory.

Or, maybe you want to figure out what your consumers are most likely to buy so you offer a lot of goods in small quantities but don’t need to waste storage or have a storefront with items that just aren’t selling.

Dropshipping allows you to create your own business by allowing you to source your products without having to actually hold any of those products or deal with packing or shipping to customers.

For a lot of people this is a perfect business model, however, implementation and having said store actually be successful from the beginning are where most people struggle.

That’s where this eCom Elites review is gonna come in handy!

So something I always gravitate towards, is hands on learning. What Frank has really excelled at within his course is showing you real examples in real time of what needs to happen.

Like I said above Frank is a dropshipping OG, starting in this business model in 2009. And, according to him, dropshipping actually started back in 2004.

He stresses to all his students that drop shipping isn’t some fad or trend but has been around for a long time and will be around for many years in the future.

So Franklin dives into immense detail about how to set up a successful Shopify store. He goes over everything you will need from the ground up and here is what you’ll get:

  • How to source your products and where to find them
  • Proper product research to find the hottest products
  • The best way to set up your shopify store from top to bottom
  • How to launch a successful Facebook Ad campaign
  • The best way to achieve organic Google traffic
  • Email marketing
  • Sales Basics and business tips
  • Tons of videos, going over the varying methods and themes that correlate to your eCom store
  • The program run time is 34 hours and 32 minutes.
  • Now there is a refund policy but it would behoove you to check out all the details as it clearly states what actions you will need to take; such as   watching fifty percent of training videos, having run a FB ad and having a completed store up and live.

The Meat and Potatoes – eCom Course Breakdown

The Welcome Video

We start off with a nine minute video welcoming all new eCom Elite members.

Franklin Hatchett jumps in to where he comes from (not Australia, born and raised Kiwi) and who he is.

Next he lets you know why his course is so different from all the others. Frank asserts that you will leave having had your money’s worth because you will be gaining a ton of valuable and insightful content.

eComm Introduction

The very first thing you hear is: “Welcome to the best damn money-making course online.”

Now if we consider that there are quite a few programs that range well into the thousands range, how does this program beat out all others?

First things first, he states this course is for the people just starting in their ecom voyage.

So if you have been hacking away for a while you may find some of what the course goes over repetitive to your current knowledge base.

At twenty eight minutes this is a great introduction to what drop shipping is. He also tries to impart the realities of your immediate income, i.e you won’t become an overnight millionaire.

 Sourcing Products And Research

At four and a half hours of product research, you might be questioning “Wtf? Why do I need to sit through four hours of this?”

Let me tell you that this is not excessive, it is eye opening! Frank shows real time examples of finding products on the various apps he uses.

He shares some awesome nuggets on how to find these products too.

Setting Up Your Shopify Store

This section is pretty much for the Shopify newbies. If you have already been through the setup process for your store, then most of this information can be glossed over.

At a little over two hours, Franklin goes over: the exact blueprint to set up your new store, getting your shipping and payment options setup, the best apps to use on your Shopify site, and setting up store funnels, abandoned cart emails and product automation.

Pretty standard stuff.

The Facebook section is broken down into two parts for a total viewing time of ten hours and twelve minutes.

Franklin explains in extensive detail on how best to generate sales using Facebook.

He shows you an inside look on the exact methods he uses for Facebook marketing, he goes over: setting up your Facebook Ad accounts, the various advertising systems to use, how to target your audience, how to set up your Facebook pixel, designing different Facebook advertisements and how to split test them, understanding your campaign data and how to re-target it if needed, how to scale your campaign(s), and the proper way to bid.

During these sections Frank also provides added bonuses like:

  • Data Mining
  • Power Editor
  • Facebook Optimization

Frank once again brings in the hands-on practical examples and takes the time to explain them.

These two courses will take some time to get through and IT WILL take you a long time to implement what you have learned.

However, I still haven’t found a program that offers this much information on Facebook Ads. If you have some experience with Facebook advertisements though, I’m not sure you will learn anything new.

Instagram Traffic

I found this to be extra satisfying. There are so many “shopify gurus” that tell you all about Instagram, but don’t actually specify the details needed to show you how it can help you.

However, take a look at all he covers in a little over an hour video:

  • How to use Instagram to gain traffic
  • How to research and find the right influencers for your products and the fair price to pay them
  • The right way to run your IG advertisements
  • Automating your posts with a schedule and maintaining audience engagement

 Organic Google Traffic (SEO)

Here’s the thing: there are a lot of courses out there and very few talk about how to gain additional traffic to your site without the use of your Facebook or Instagram advertisements.

So the fact that Frank goes into such detail about how to add additional content and ease of use optimization tactics is like pure gold.

With this part of the course you will be shown how to design and drive organic traffic to your store.  This is a great beginner initiation to Google traffic. One pitfall which is surprising due to the intense amount of information on other sections, is the lack of details.

With just an hour and a half of context, I really feel so much more could be explored and expanded on.

I truly feel this particular topic should be its own program, there really is just too much information to condense and get across to you in such a short format.

So much goes into influencing the Google algorithm that isn’t even addressed but I do commend Franklin for adding to his course at all.

So if taking a deep dive into how to drive organic traffic to your site is something you are really interested in, then you should pop on over to my top recommendation to starting a new business by clicking here.

Email Marketing

At two and a half hours this section is all about how to use email marketing to gain sales.

You will learn how to create a landing page, you will design a Shopify store and lead generation list, you will learn how to automate your email marketing, you will create Facebook Advertisements and coupons to gain leads using a lead magnet, you will also gain access to Franklin Hatchets “Product Launch Formula”.

He also shares his behind the scenes blueprint for what has been successful for him in the past and gives you tried and true advice and warnings about the “traps” involved with email marketing.

Business And Sales

This section goes over a few tips to run a profitable business and uses his hands on approach to show you the things he has learned over the years like how to grow your sales production, how to implement virtual assistants into your business so you can scale your empire, and why having business goals is so important.

Since Franklin is based in New Zealand though a lot of his business issues and tax information is specific to his part of the world; to be fair the obstacles can be pretty similar no matter where you are.

However, it is advised to seek out the help of an accountant to get the proper information for your business in terms of taxes that is specific to your country or state.

So even though a lot of information is specific to New Zealand it is still pretty cool because some courses don’t even talk about taxes!

Top Secret Videos

This section is that Double 007 tilt, giving you the extra super secret videos going over a multitude of ways to improve and increase your sales. Some of the videos you will gain access to are:

  • How to include warranties and using them to gain trust and increase your sales
  • Creating coupons and why using them actually improves your sale income
  • Techniques on how to review your competitors websites and how to use that information to get a leg up
  • You will learn how to build a massive email list and equally large fan page

Update Module Ongoing Videos

This section is a solid offering from Franklin Hatchett. While the original tutorial videos were released in 2017, Frank has made addendums for the simple fact that things are constantly evolving and updating.

He has gone and updated most videos in a 2019 revision overhaul.

Since Facebook is constantly updating and improving, the most logical outcome is that you update and improve upon your own FB campaigns and other advertisements.

This part of the course correlates to the new methods and updated videos to use. Once you become a member you will receive constant revisions and updates as they are created.

I really think this is a great feature that he has implemented. Sometimes you can find a course that really resonates with you, you enjoy the mentor, and find the information easily digestible only to come to outdated video resources!

So the fact that Frank understands the swift change in nature of this field and provides you with constantly updated information on how to best use Instagram, Google, Shopify, and Facebook is quite refreshing.

Video Request

So I have yet to see another course that not only asks for your feedback but implements it as well.

Franklin is adamant that he is here to help you, so if you can’t seem to grasp something, or need a little bit more information about something you watched; then you can troubleshoot your issue to him and he will potentially add a new video going over your question/concern.

A few of the newest additions go over things like: using multiple accounts on Facebook, Google Ads and shopify, page post engagement (PPE) after a conversion and what to do when that happens, plus suggestions with your copy and so much more.

Again I have to commend Frank for adding this as it’s a great addition for members but it really is an indispensable resource for the new students of Shopify to learn.

Really and truly Frank is doing a solid job at bringing valuable content that you will feel is worth your time and I think he is doing a stellar fucking job at that.

Weekly Videos

Essentially this section is videos of Q&A sessions. Frank gives his answers to a multitude of questions he has been asked over the years by students of his course over a large range of subjects.

Things like spying on your competition with Flippa sites and being banned from Facebook Ads.

Now I’m not sure why but the quality of videos is not up to the same standard as the rest of the course but it is still worth your while to check em’ out.

However, if you’re looking for particular guidance on your problem it might be a waste of time and you may have better luck asking him directly.

That being said this section should really be considered supplementary to the course as a whole.

This is a very comprehensive course but there have been quite a few of the same questions being asked about it, so I’m going to address those first before I do my personal course break down.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you really have success as a dropshipper after taking this course?

So just as in life, success will vary from student to student. It all depends on the amount of effort you are willing to invest. To ease your mind, one of Frank’s most successful proteges has acquired over $3 million dollars from his Shopify store. On the flip side of that many have dropped out before even completing the course, so there’s that.

Does eCom Elites offer a discount?

Here’s the thing, the class is only $197. As entrepreneurs the greatest asset to finesse our skills is to invest in ourselves and our training.

If $197 is too rich for your blood and you are wanting a discount already, then you might want to reconsider living life as an entrepreneur. The best entrepreneurs NEVER stop investing in themselves.

Sure, you can find a ton of free shit on the internet and if that is what you want then just know sometimes you truly get what you pay for. So, the short answer is no, there is no discount.

Besides if you are doing a side by side comparison to Dropship Lifestyle to eCom Elites; DSL charges almost THREE GRAND for their cheapest version.

So yeah, the guy is charging you $197 but damn he is legit giving you so much for so little!!

So what’s the difference between eCom Elites Ultimates and Standard?

Besides the obvious price difference at $297 vs. $197, the ultimate version gives you access to his Done for you (D4U) sales funnel, two e-books “Top Selling Niches” and “Top Selling Products” and the Franklin Hatchett course ‘Sales Funnel Academy’ and ‘Google Ads Academy’.

How legit is this course?

This course is super legit do NOT let that low price tag fool you. As one of the OG’s of dropshipping, Franklin Hatchett is one of the most trusted coaches on the scene.

Like I said up above this course has been around since 2017 and is constantly being updated, so yeah, eCom Elites is super legit. Don’t forget you do have a 30 day refund policy if you are not satisfied but I really feel Frank goes out of his way to make sure you are.

Do I think the course is worth it? Here’s my two cents.

This is what I did like. There is no denying the success of Franklin Hatchett, he is a very prominent figure in the dropshipping world and has created a very comprehensive and thorough course.

Not only that but he has a highly engaged YouTube following with hundreds of subscribers and new ones joining in everyday day.

He pumps out videos weekly with free advice and insights to the world of e-commerce. Once this eCom Elites review goes LIVE his YouTube channel will have hundreds (I stopped counting after 300) of videos.

With that information alone, Frank really is an expert within the field of dropshipping.

So if there really is so much shit out there for free even from HIMSELF is the course worth it? The only answer I can honestly give is, maybe.

While the original course launched in 2017 and an updated version was released in 2019, there is still plenty of valuable and relevant information.

Plus, the video content is being updated frequently AND you are able to request additional deep dive videos and content once you’re a member.

At a basement bargain deal of a price you will leave a much more knowledgeable person and will have built a (hopefully) successful Shopify store with tons of tools to help you continue to grow and prosper in your digital toolbelt.

Whether you choose the standard or the ultimate, you are getting a lot of bang for your buck. Either program is well worth the investment of your time.

Now Frank has already told you this is not some overnight hustle to be a millionaire.

Becoming a Shopify dropshipping store owner will be a full time gig that necessitates hard work and a tenacious attitude to succeed.

In short, it takes a lot of time, a lot of hard work and a lot of energy. But if this is what you want to do then it’s still good news!

So now here is the real shit in the can. I can legit tell you I didn’t think there was anything inherently bad with the eCom Elites program.

It truly is a badass course on dropshipping. I like that it was filled to the brim with valuable content and engaging information that you can immediately apply to your business.

It is a great price point and blows a lot of its “competition” out of the water.

My issue comes from the fact I have first hand experience with dropshipping and know it’s too fucking easy to blow through $5k in Facebook advertising tests, even when you’re being a conservative spender.

So don’t get it twisted and think this is a cheap start up business because it’s not. Here is an example of what I mean.

You create your store, you go through the whole process of organizing your site, creating the landing pages, and you launch a modest Facebook Ads campaign for $5 dollars a day but have created multiple ads.

Because you have multiple ads being tested within the marketplace you can see how quickly that adds up. I mean ten ads at $5 dollars a day is already $50 dollars and if you ran that campaign for only a week you have already spent $350 dollars.

Seeing as how this is just supposed to be the testing phase and is being touted as “low-cost”, since you are just looking to see if the market has an actual demand for what you hope to deliver.

This isn’t just a test for your ads though is it? With this tiny test you’re also basing if dropshipping is even a business model that’s worth the time.

And just starting out $350 is not a small chunk of change, so now you understand what I mean when I say it is not cheap to start this business model.

Also, I’m just gonna put this out there, that having the price of the course at just under $200 brought in a certain mentality into the group and it wasn’t at all positive.

These people brought their poor mentality, penny pinching, give me more attitude and it just kind of cheapened the course output as a community.

Those are the people who will never be satisfied no matter what is offered because they probably don’t put in a valiant effort to succeed in the first damn place.

Quite frankly, Frank’s approach to ad spending is pretty contradictory to the Facebook Ad bidding algorithm.

He suggests going nice and slow but the quicker your ads are seen by your perfect clients the faster you are able to put that money in the bank.

Creating the Ads, launching the Ads, gathering the data, making adjustments, and relaunching all seems a bit tedious to me, especially with such a low return on investment.

I’m not going to lie to you. I truly think that Franklin Hatchett did an amazing job on his course but I’m gonna tell you a little secret.

I think someone did it better. Jared Goetz eCom Hacks takes on an even more grand mindset and is quite aggressive with his approach to advertising budgets.

At $3k, Jared’s course will set you back a bit but if you understand the dropshipping way of life you will know that is a small amount of time in comparison to the type of Ad costs within this business.

Since that price point is a little steeper the quality of people within the community is of a higher caliber, meaning their mindsets.

When you surround yourself with like-minded people or people who are where you want to be, your sense of hustle becomes infinitely stronger to succeed.

I truly believe the reason their community is so strong is because that price point is so high.

A mentor/guru/coach should always price their services at whatever value they deem worthy, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting your offers to be affordable.

However, when you cater to the masses you deal with massive issues, just due to the nature of how many people are purchasing and their perspectives on what you provided them with.

It is human nature to put more value into something that we pay more for. Sometimes that pays off and sometimes it doesn’t but if you’ve heard the phrase “no skin in the game” you will understand what I mean.

That’s why I’m of the opinion that those students in eCom Hacks are more driven and committed to their course of actions.

Which is why I say surrounding yourself with other successful people within your field makes you in turn be more successful.

You are witnessing their success and modeling what they do, you want to be part of the winner’s circle too so you are constantly upping your game.

So yeah, I would much rather pay the higher price tag to be surrounded by like-minded individuals.

Dropshipping As A Whole

If you are unfamiliar with how ads work, especially Facebook ads, you are paying a DAILY rate to be seen by your perfect audience.

You WILL lose money every day if you are not converting at a high enough percentage.

This puts stress on you and is a constant struggle to design that perfect advertisement or find that perfect trending and high ticket product.

If you are selling the “everyday” items, dropshipping will not be profitable for you.

Dropshipping is truly only a successful business model if you are selling something that is going viral in order for you to get the conversion rate high enough for these ads to even work!

{insert Shopify example: see Ippei article}

Need an example? Check out these stats from my Shopify store. In one month I made this much, awesome right? Wrong!! Because I only made {insert monetary amount} in profits and here is why.

I spent almost my entire store income for that month on Facebook Ads. I also did all the customer service and order fulfillments for every single one of those sales.

After all was said and done and a few charge backs, all that hassle and trouble I only made {insert same monetary amount}. That is un-fucking-acceptable.

Of course there are ‘shippers that have earned higher profit margins but the reality is Facebook Ad prices are only getting higher and the profit margins are getting smaller and smaller.

The issue I see is that owners put up their entire revenue but they aren’t actually telling you what their profits are.

The truth of it is this, most dropshippers are not making mad money, nor is it stable or long lasting and those that are have been doing it for a very long time.

You still think dropshipping is the business model for you? Let me enlighten you to just a few things that can wipe out your whole Shopify store overnight!

  1. The Ad you took so long to design and test wears out your customer base and becomes completely powerless.
  2. Guess what just happened? You just got banned from Facebook without notice!
  3. Remember fidget spinners? Yeah, everyone and their mom was dropshipping those little fuckers but look now…..what happens when your “hot ticket” item is no longer trending?
  1. What are you gonna do when someone steals your product? What happens when they design a better ad? Or outbids you and has more Facebook Ads than you? Your shit out of luck because your store just died!
  2. Don’t even get me started on supplier issues because there is a fuck ton of them and I don’t have all day.

You somehow thought that being in the dropshipping business meant you would have PASSIVE income?

Let me pop that bubble real quick. You are constantly on the hunt for products. You have to continuously make new stores, test ads, and find suppliers worth a damn to make consistent money.

I think the reason why so many young people have jumped into this dropshipping model is because it is relatively low cost to open a store and you don’t have to physically buy anything to put in it.

However, for the general public you may make a buck here and there but you’re not quitting your day job from it.

Of course there are exceptions to every rule and obviously there are some successful dropshippers out there but for most everyone else it’s not making the money roll in.

I think this is also why so many dropshippers are selling courses too because their store is getting digitally dusty from just sitting there unused and not active so they understand they can pass on their dropshipping knowledge another way and actually make a better buck from a course or webinar.

THE Best Biz Model In 2020

Don’t get it twisted, we’ve already established that dropshipping can be a somewhat effective business model to make some cash online but ya gotta get the product right.

But it really comes down to how long the product you find will be an effective sell. There’s no telling when that product will stop selling and you’ll be back to square one… finding a killer product.

IMO and experience, you have to have something that’s sustainable and predictable because it becomes much easier to scale and see life-changing income.

Now, when I first got involved with dropshipping I already had another online business in lead generation. But that’s just who I am. I never stop going and I never stop trying to elevate myself through new things.

Lead gen has always been the winner for me because of how sustainable it is. Leads will always be in style, products that rely on a fad have a shelf life and that kills you.

Just take a look at this site of mine real quick.

This bad boy has been making me a thousand dollars every month since early 2019 with no work since then. That’s self-sustaining and I know it’ll always be there making me money.

And that’s just one! Imagine yourself building 10, 20 or 60 of these killers all making you $1,000/mo.

So Why Is Lead Gen King?

It provides an actual service, brings value to customers, and is a field that is actually increasing in demand every single year. Here are some of the “secrets” of lead gen:

  • Fun Fact: Lead generation is not about finding a hot trending item day after day, week after week, month after month
  • There is no need to make constant changes to your advertising budget or methods. You don’t even need to have an Instagram, Google, or Facebook Ad at all!
  • You never again have to worry about selling a physical product and all that that entails. Ever again.
  • What you do get is organic (AKA free) traffic from Google
  • When done correctly from the beginning, you could potentially leave your lead generation site up for months without lifting a finger to maintain it
  • One of the true ways to gain financial independence with real passive income

So what exactly is a lead generation site AKA digital real estate?

Essentially, it’s a simple, generic website that generates leads for business owners that I partner with.

With little to no work to maintain it. Once it’s at the top of Google, it just stays there. That’s how the game works.

The really cool thing is that I get to play a part in changing people’s lives. Imagine someone coming along and offering to make you an extra $10,000/mo in exchange for a small sliver of it. Say $1,000.

Would you take that deal?

Of course you would! Anyone would! It just makes sense.

Perhaps the best part about all of this is it’s for the long-term. I’m not worried about a product not being a fad two months from now.

Leads will always be in style and I will always own the website I built. Which means I know that if I make my client’s phone ring, they’ll always be willing to pay me $1,000.

The sustainable, predictable and extremely easy to scale quickly.

Passive income baby. It’s a beautiful thing.

Enough rambling lol. If you want more deets on the lead gen biz, go ahead and take a look at our coaching program.

It’s the same way I got started in this business and how I got out of the 9 to 5 grind. These days I travel with my fam and still grow my business when I’m not home.
