A Franklin Hatchett eCom Elites

Quick Navigation

Is ecom Elites worth it?

Let me start off by saying I’m just happy I DON’T have to talk about affiliate marketing today.

I’m thrilled to take a much needed break to dive into the world of e-commerce. And why not start with what could be considered one of the best e-commerce courses?

Ecom Elites by Franklin Hatchett

Logo for Ecom Elites, a Course by Franklin Hatchett

Franklin offers two different tiers of his popular dropshipping course, and I’m happy to say that, if nothing else, the extremely affordable price tag is a nice change.

Considering you get virtually the same quality of teaching as Adrian Morrison’s eCom Success Academy for 1/10th of the price, I’m immediately intrigued.

Now, is starting an ecommerce business the right decision for you? Well, that’s a whole ‘nother discussion which we’ll also get to in this review.

This is NOT an Affiliate Review

Before we dive in, let me stress that I am not affiliated in ANY way with Frank Hatchett or ecom Elites, and I definitely do NOT receive any compensation for this review.

I do this to help my fellow entrepreneurs make the best decisions for their own online businesses.

And in that vein, I want to show you my preferred online business model…the key to my success. The system that led to my making $50,000 a month almost on autopilot. You can click here to find out more about this system, or keep reading for my ecom Elites review.

Franklin Hatchett, the creator of ecom Elites

But first! Who is Franklin Hatchett?

I’m going to start off this ecom Elites review by talking about the man behind the program, Franklin Hatchett.

Possibly one of the OGs of drop shipping, the New Zealand-born Frank Hatchett has been in the game since 2009.

He’s got a popular YouTube channel where he shares a ton of free content on building an e-commerce business. Of course, the goal of that is to establish himself as an authority so you then invest in the ecom Elites course.

Naturally, sharing free tips and students’ success stories is a great way for Frank to show people how awesome his dropshipping course is.

Plus, YouTube is an awesome source of free traffic to drive folks into his sales funnel.

But he’s not limited to just ecommerce and dropshipping…Franklin has some affiliate marketing courses too, so he’s a bit more well-rounded than most of the online marketing gurus out there

What does Ecom Elites Cost?

You have two different options when you purchase the ecom Elites course:

Ecom Elites Standard ($197)

This is the core dropshipping course. You’ll discover Frank’s methods for doing product research, running Instagram and Facebook ads, and email marketing.

Plus, there’s training on search engine optimization (SEO), chatbots, and Franklin’s weekly Q&A sessions. There’s also an exclusive Facebook group just for students, as well as lifetime access to the course (and all new updates).

This core training should give you everything you need to get your ecommerce store up and running.

Ecom Elites Ultimate ($297)

The Ultimate package includes everything in the Standard offering, plus additional training models: training on sales funnels, Google Shopping ads, and some additional “done for you” sales funnels that in theory should be plug-and-play.

Frank also includes some books on his best-selling products, and top-selling niches. I’d be wary of any bonuses on “best products” though, since trends are changing all the time. Something written even a month ago could already be outdated.

The Ultimate Package is obviously more comprehensive with a lot more training.

Frankly, for just a hundred bucks more, I’d choose the Ultimate.

Whether you need to know it all before you get started, or you’re an intermediate ecom seller who wants to improve your skills, the Ultimate has a definite advantage over the Standard option.

Does Ecom Elites have a Money-Back Guarantee?

Yep! According to the sales page, the ecom Elites course offers a 30 day money back guarantee, and the guarantee is signed by Franklin Hatchett himself.

What is ecom Elites?

What is ecom Elites?

Like I said above, ecom Elites is Franklin Hatchett s course, and it comes with two different pricing tiers.

Inside the course, you have access to 10 core training modules, as well as the extras that come with the Ultimate membership, if you choose the more expensive option.

Inside ecom Elites Franklin promises you will have everything you need to know in order to build and grow a successful ecommerce business.

Let’s do a deeper review of everything inside the course.

The Welcome Video

The Welcome Video

We start off with a nine minute video welcoming all new ecom Elites members.

Franklin Hatchett jumps in to his backstory, establishes expectations for the course, and shares success stories from some of this top-selling students.

This video is designed to get you excited before diving into the course, and Franklin naturally wants you to feel like this is one of the best investments you’ve ever made before the training really kicks off.

Ecom Elites Introduction

The very first thing you hear is: “Welcome to the best damn money-making course online.”

If we consider there are quite a few drop shipping courses that cost thousands more than ecom Elites, how does this one beat out the competition?

First things first, Franklin is transparent right from the beginning. He tells you straight up this course is for the people just starting in their ecom voyage.

So if you’ve been hacking away for a while you may find some elements of the course pretty repetitive.

At twenty eight minutes this is a great introduction to dropshipping. He also gives you an immediate reality check, i.e. you won’t become an overnight millionaire, but this program gives you everything you need to build a successful dropshipping business.

Module 1: Setting Up Your Shopify Store

Module 1: Setting Up Your Shopify Store

This section is pretty much for the Shopify newbies. If you already have dropshipping stores, then most of this information can be glossed over.

No one with any ecom experience really wants to watch a 2-hour training on how to build a Shopify store. But for newbies, this is pretty valuable and extremely thorough.

Franklin covers the exact blueprint to set up your new store, getting your shipping and payment options setup, the best apps to use on your Shopify site, and setting up store funnels, abandoned cart emails and product automation.

Pretty standard stuff.

Module 2: Sourcing Products And Research

Module 2: Sourcing Products And Research

This 4.5 hour module is an exhaustive lesson in researching and sourcing products.

Now, if you want to get started with OR improve your ecommerce business, I’d highly suggest you take good notes here.

Most folks who start an ecom or dropshipping business don’t take product research seriously.

As a result, they’ve set themselves up to fail right from the beginning.

If you’re not proactive about the products you’re selling, you’ll end up wasting a ton of time and money. And you’ll probably quit before developing any real traction.

If you want to succeed with Hatchett s course, put some real effort into sourcing products.

Listen to what Franklin says about selecting niches and products, developing relationships with suppliers, and generating new ideas.

Plus, you’ll also get some cool software recommendations in this model.

Yeah, this module is thorough, but it’s worth it.

Module 3: Facebook Traffic

Module 3: Facebook Traffic

This section is broken down into two parts for a total viewing time of ten hours and twelve minutes.

Franklin explains in extensive detail how anyone can generate sales using Facebook ads and free traffic from the platform.

He shows you the exact methods he uses for Facebook marketing, including: setting up your Facebook Ad accounts, how to target your audience, how to set up your Facebook pixel, designing different ads, split testing, understanding your campaign data, retargeting, how to scale your campaign(s), and the proper way to bid.

During these sections Franklin also provides added bonuses like:

  • Data Mining
  • Power Editor
  • Optimization

Frank once again brings in the hands-on practical examples and takes the time to explain them.

Be prepared, because this part of the ecom Elites course is long, thorough, and intense. But it’s also what makes this course worth the money.

Facebook ads are the lifeblood of virtually every online business: ecommerce, affiliate marketing, even service-based businesses.

You need to know and deeply understand these principles if you want to succeed.

Module 4: Instagram Traffic

Module 4: Instagram Traffic

I’m not really sure how much I trust this section.

Social Media Marketing is, in my opinion, a lot of work for relatively low rewards. Instagram is just one of the many platforms that takes a ton of effort yet barely moves the needle on your sales.

Franklin spends a good amount of this module talking about how to find and hire influencers, run Instagram ads and retargeting ads, and generate more Instagram traffic.

All with the ultimate goal of driving more sales.

Considering the rules around influencer marketing are getting more and more strict, the prices for a single shoutout are going through the roof, and the actual results are worse than ever, I’d call this section both disappointing AND unnecessary.

That said, anyone nowadays can sell an “Instagram course” for the cost of the entire ecom Elites package.

So even though I believe Franklin struck out on this module, the overall program is still worth the money.

Module 5: Email Marketing

Module 5: Email Marketing

Getting customers through email marketing is getting harder by the day. Inboxes are overflowing with offers and flash sales, so making your message stand out is going to be a challenge.

Inside this module of ecom Elites Franklin shows his students what has long been one of the best ways to make money online: email marketing.

He shows you how to set up email campaigns, send out newsletters, warm up cold leads to (theoretically) turn them into buyers, and improve your open rates.

Franklin also does a pretty thorough review of customer “win-back” campaigns, the right way to use coupons to increase sales, and installing a Contact Flow pixel.

Beyond that, Franklin reveals his “top secret” way to set up your email marketing for success.

Unfortunately, it’s not quite so simple. Email marketing just isn’t what it used to be. Thanks to the ease of services like ClickFunnels and MailChimp, anyone can build a sales funnel and become an email marketer overnight.

There’s so much junk out there, you’ll have a really hard time standing out from the crowd.

So why not skip the headache?

Instead of putting all your efforts into a super-competitive industry like ecom…

Relying on things like paid ads and email marketing, which can squeeze your margins AND your sanity…

Why not take advantage of an opportunity with far, FAR less competition?

An opportunity that allowed me to quickly build my online business to $50,000 a month in recurring revenue, most of which is passive?

It’s called Digital Real Estate, and if you want to know more about this one of a kind system for making money online, just click here.

Module 6: ChatBot Profits

Module 6- ChatBot Profits

This is another one of those sections that has me scratching my head a bit.

There are so many new rules about using chatbots, it’s almost impossible to make any money with them. Not like the old days, when you could turn one of these on and have high-paying leads flow into your sales funnel almost on autopilot.

This module seems a lot like the Instagram and email marketing modules. More of a throw-in, without real, tangible ways to actually make money with chatbots.

Yes, they can be used to serve up ads, or for customer service. But for actually driving sales of your products and making money, well, not much luck there.

Good think Franklin’s courses have a 30 day money back guarantee.

Module 7: Building Sales Funnels

Module 7: Building Sales Funnels

For those who are a bit more tech-savvy, sales funnels are a unique way to sell products and post big numbers. Instead of driving all your traffic to a generic looking product page or store front, a funnel allows you to sell one product in a more convincing way.

A funnel gives you more real estate to highlight the best features of one single product. And the structure eliminates choices for the prospect, meaning they have a greater chance of buying instead of getting distracted by something else on the page.

Now, there are lots of courses dedicated exclusively to sales funnels. So think of this as more of a primer than an exhaustive training. Franklin doesn’t go into a ton of detail, but he touches on the basic points.

Module 8: Google Ads

Module 8: Google Ads

This module had the potential to be great or disappointing. Fortunately, Franklin came through here!

He doesn’t simply touch on Google Ads, but dives deep into various areas that can really help drive sales.

For example, Google Shopping. This specific type of Google Ads has incredible conversion rates, because instead of just the usual text, you get to include a picture and a direct link to your products.

Google Shopping is a powerful tool, and Franklin shows you how to take advantage in this ecom Elites module. The training includes keyword research, connecting your store properly, and setting up your ads to maximize clicks and minimize costs

There’s also additional Google Ads training to have your ad seen on YouTube, below specific, niche-relevant videos. Another powerful tool in the ecom Elites Google Ads training.

One more reason this course is worth it (even if there’s a decent amount of fluff in the middle sections).

Module 9: Organic Google Traffic (SEO)

Module 9- Organic Google Traffic (SEO)

This section definitely had potential, but I do feel like Franklin falls short in this one.

Look, SEO is a whale. There’s a lot to know, and ecom Elites barely scratches the surface on this topic.

There’s some good stuff on link building and authority that relates specifically to ecom, but if you’re not careful, the stuff Franklin teaches here could be more harmful than helpful to your store.

Plus, he kind of misses the point here.

SEO skills, when taught and applied correctly, can make you WAYYYY more money than any dropshipping business can.

Whether you sell SEO as an agency (which can bring in up to $100,000 a year PER CLIENT), or use it to build your own Digital Real Estate empire, there’s a much greater upside than selling cheap physical products online.

In this video, I show you how anyone can build a powerful monthly passive income stream thanks to the search engine optimization skills I learned from Digital Real Estate.

Module 10: Top Secret Videos

Top Secret Videos inside the Ecom Elites Course

This section is that 007 tilt, giving you the extra super secret videos going over a multitude of ways to improve and increase your sales. Some of the videos you will gain access to are:

  • How to include warranties and using them to gain trust and increase your sales
  • Creating coupons and why using them actually improves your sale income
  • Techniques on how to review your competitors websites and how to use that information to get a leg up
  • You will learn how to build a massive email list and equally large fan page

Video Request

So I have yet to see another course that not only asks for your feedback but implements it as well.

Franklin Hatchett is adamant that he is here to help you, so if you can’t seem to grasp something, or need a little bit more information about something you watched; then you can troubleshoot your issue to him and he will potentially add a new video going over your question/concern.

A few of the newest additions go over things like: using multiple accounts on Facebook, Google Ads and shopify, page post engagement (PPE) after a conversion and what to do when that happens, plus suggestions with your copy and so much more.

Again I have to commend Frank for adding this as it’s a great addition for members but it really is an indispensable resource for the new students of Shopify to learn.

Really and truly Frank is doing a solid job at bringing valuable content that you will feel is worth your time and I think he is doing a stellar fucking job at that.

Weekly Videos

Franklin Hatchett's Weekly Q&A Sessions

Essentially this section is videos of Q&A sessions. Franklin gives his answers to a multitude of questions he has been asked over the years by students of his course over a large range of subjects.

Things like spying on your competition with Flippa sites and being banned from Facebook Ads.

Now I’m not sure why but the quality of videos is not up to the same standard as the rest of the course but it is still worth your while to check em’ out.

However, if you’re looking for particular guidance on your problem it might be a waste of time and you may have better luck asking Frank directly. The private ecom Elites Facebook group might be a good place to do that.

Is Ecom Elites Legit?

I’d definitely say Franklin Hatchett and ecom Elites are legit. If you want to become a student of ecommerce and start building Shopify stores, this course is a great place to begin.

You get ongoing, relatively personalized support in the private ecom Elites Facebook group. Frank is active in there, and one-on-one help is super important for beginners.

And if you don’t believe this review, just check out Reddit. There’s lot of student testimonials there too, talking about how great the ecom Elites course has been for them.

Is Ecom Elites Worth The Money?

There’s no denying the success of Franklin Hatchett…he’s a prominent figure in the dropshipping world and kudos to him for creating a very thorough course.

But that said, the ecommerce business is fickle. And dropshipping itself is both extremely competitive and gets harder by the day.

That makes this ecom Elites review really hard. Because yes, the course is solid. But the industry as a whole is on shaky ground.

Fortunately, there’s a few redeeming features:

The Skills You Learn in Ecom Elites Aren’t Limited to Dropshipping

Ecom Elites isn't just a dropshipping course

This is a huge point, and big thanks to Frank for making his course extremely comprehensive.

The focus of ecom Elites is on dropshipping, but the skills can be applied to ecom in general. That’s a really important thing to consider. If you want to start an ecommerce business, the skills in this course will be extremely valuable.

Constant Updates + Great Price Give this Course an Edge over Competing Products

Franklin Hatchett's Course stands out among most of the ecom programs out there

One of the reasons I like Frank is that he believes in continuing to provide excellent training for his students.

Ecom Elites is no exception to that rule. Even though the course was originally launched in 2017, he released an updated version of the course in 2019.

If he stopped there, this review would be far less positive. But like I said, Frank puts a lot of effort into his courses.

He’s continuing to improve ecom Elites with updated content and videos all the time, so for the most part, his strategies stay relevant.

And again, the price is a tenth of similar courses, so that alone makes this a great product!

But Do You Really Want an Ecommerce Business?

But Do You Really Want an Ecommerce Business?

Look, if you want a Shopify dropshipping store, becoming a member of ecom Elites is basically a no-brainer.

There’s probably no better Shopify course out there.

But after reading this review, you can tell I’m still on the fence about ecommerce in general, no matter how good the ecom Elites course is.

And here’s why:

Running an ecommerce biz is a losing proposal.

Running an ecommerce biz is a losing proposal.

In short, it takes a lot of time, a lot of hard work and a lot of energy.

Not to mention, a ton of money. Unless you’re already a seasoned pro when it comes to Facebook Ads, you’ll be spending a ton of money on testing and tweaking ad campaigns before seeing your first sale.

Sure, the Facebook and Google Ads courses inside ecom Elites are helpful. And they will definitely help you out in the long term.

But in the short term, the only way to truly build up your ad skills is by spending your own capital on ad campaigns.

And in the beginning, you WILL lose a lot of it.

“Testing” Ads Will Make You Go Broke

22Testing22 Ads Will Make You Go Broke

I have first hand experience here, and trust me when I say it’s way too easy to blow through 5, 10, even 15 grand “testing” your ads.

You’ll spend ten bucks to make a dollar back, and call it progress. It gets addictive, and could very quickly lead you to the poorhouse.

So don’t get it twisted and think this is a cheap start up business because it’s not. Let me give you an example to make my point:

You buy the ecom Elites course, go through the training, and build your first store.

You organize your site, select your products, and start a “test” Facebook Ads campaign with a small $5/day budget.

But it’s not really $5/day. It’s $5/day PER AD.

10 ads suddenly takes you to $50/day. That’s $1,500 a month!

And again, you’ve maybe made a handful of sales in the course of all this “testing”.

But what if you could reverse the process?

But what if you could reverse the process?

Instead of blowing through thousands of dollars before making your first sale, what if your FIRST SALE was worth thousands of dollars?

And what if you could land that sale without spending a single penny?

That’s what happens when you stop looking at ecommerce courses and invest in the superior business model:

Digital Real Estate.

Low Prices Aren’t Always a Good Thing

A low-priced course is a bad investment

I’m just gonna put this out there: having such a low-priced course attracted a lot of folks with a broke mindset.

The old saying that “those who pay the least expect the most” is pretty evident inside the ecom Elites community.

Of course, there are certainly those that show up, work hard, and succeed.

But the vast majority of people in the course brought their poor mentality, penny pinching, and give-me-more attitude.

They wanted to complain and act entitled instead of investing in themselves.

And because the overall morale inside the ecom Elites group is so poor, it makes it hard for anyone to succeed.

You’re the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with.

So if you want to succeed in your online business, you need to surround yourself with like-minded individuals who support and motivate each other.

NOT a bunch of broke losers.

No offense to Frank Hatchett and the ecom Elites course. It’s truly a great course, but that community is toxic in a lot of ways.

Make a REAL Investment in Yourself

Don't invest in another shitty course

Look, here’s the truth:

You get what you pay for. If you pay a little bit for a cheap course, well…that’s what you get.

But if you truly invest in yourself, and you surround yourself with folks who did the same, you’re basically unstoppable.

That’s what I did.

I was sick of cheap courses that made big promises but didn’t deliver.

And part of that was my fault. If I spent a couple hundred bucks on just another course, I could totally walk away from that.

But making a more significant investment in myself (not unaffordable, but enough to make me think twice about quitting) lit a fire under me.

When I joined my mentor’s Digital Real Estate program, I went in knowing that this wasn’t just another course I could forget about.

And guess what happened?

I thrived!

And it wasn’t just because of the program, either.

Success Comes From Support

A course without support is basically useless

Again, I mean no offense to Franklin Hatchett or the ecom Elites team.

But his course will NOT give you the support you need if you truly want to be successful online.

No course will do that on its own. It’s virtually impossible, because you NEED to surround yourself with a community of winners.

That’s what I did when I joined my mentor’s Digital Real Estate program, and it changed everything.

It’s how I went from making a couple grand online to over $50,000 per month!

I joined a group of ambitious, driven people who all had big goals. They’d all invested in themselves and knew everyone else in the group did too.

So when one person lost motivation, everyone else pushed them to keep going.

When one person needed help, everyone else picked them up.

When one person succeeded, everyone else celebrated.

And that’s because my mentor was right there leading the pack. He was the first to offer advice, celebrate the wins, and get on the phone if anyone needed help.

And that’s why virtually everyone in this group is incredibly successful online!

I’m definitely not the top student in this program, so you’re truly in elite company here.

If you want to find out more about this program, which is responsible for so much of my success, just click here.

Dropshipping is Dead

Dropshipping is Dead

Even though ecom Elites is a badass course on dropshipping, the industry itself is dead.

Besides the fact that every ad platform HATES dropshipping, even Shopify doesn’t support the business model.

What most of these courses don’t tell you is that as a dropshipper, there’s a very real chance Shopify will shut your store down.

Most payment processors will refuse to work with you too.

I’m pretty sure you don’t hear about all that inside ecom Elites, huh?

Dropshipping is Expensive AF

burn money dropshipping

If you are unfamiliar with how ads work, especially Facebook ads, you are paying a DAILY rate to be seen by your perfect audience.

You WILL lose money every day if you are not converting at a high enough percentage.

This puts stress on you and is a constant struggle to design that perfect advertisement or find that perfect trending and high ticket product.

If you are selling the “everyday” items, dropshipping will not be profitable for you.

Dropshipping is truly only a successful business model if you are selling something that is going viral in order for you to get the conversion rate high enough for these ads to even work!

{insert Shopify example: see Ippei article}

Dropshipping Margins Suck

Check out these stats from my Shopify store. In one month I made this much, awesome right? Wrong!! Because I only made {insert monetary amount} in profits and here is why.

I spent almost my entire store income for that month on Facebook Ads. I also did all the customer service and order fulfillments for every single one of those sales.

After all was said and done and a few charge backs, all that hassle and trouble I only made {insert same monetary amount}. That is un-fucking-acceptable.

Of course there are ‘shippers that have earned higher profit margins but the reality is Facebook Ad prices are only getting higher and the profit margins are getting smaller and smaller.

The reality is, most “successful” dropshippers are showing you sexy sales screenshots without revealing how much it cost them to get those sales.

Because then you’d discover they made almost nothing…how would they be able to sell you their courses then?

Dropshipping is NOT Sustainable

Dropshipping is NOT Sustainable

Still think dropshipping is the business model for you? Let me enlighten you to just a few things that can wipe out your whole Shopify store overnight!

  1. The Ad you took so long to design and test wears out your customer base and becomes completely powerless.
  2. Guess what just happened? You just got banned from Facebook without notice!
  3. Remember fidget spinners? Yeah, everyone and their mom was dropshipping those little fuckers but look now…..what happens when your “hot ticket” item is no longer trending?
  4. What are you gonna do when someone steals your product? What happens when they design a better ad? Or outbids you and has more Facebook Ads than you? Your shit out of luck because your store just died!
  5. Don’t even get me started on supplier issues because there is a fuck ton of them and I don’t have all day.

Dropshipping is NOT Passive

Dropshipping is NOT Passive

You somehow thought that being in the dropshipping business meant you would have PASSIVE income?

Let me pop that bubble real quick. You are constantly on the hunt for products. You have to continuously make new stores, test ads, and find suppliers worth a damn to make consistent money.

I think the reason so many young people have jumped into dropshipping is because it’s super cheap to open a store and you don’t have to physically buy anything to put in it.

You may make a buck here and there but you’re not quitting your day job from it.

Of course there are exceptions to every rule and obviously there are some successful dropshippers out there. But for almost everyone else it’s not making the money roll in.

I think this is also why so many dropshippers are selling courses too.

Their stores are getting digitally dusty from just sitting there unused and not active so they figure they can sell their knowledge and actually make a better buck from a course or webinar.

I’m not saying this is what Frank did with ecom Elites. Like I keep saying, his course is solid and packed with value.

I’m just saying, there are better industries he could be teaching in.

Digital Real Estate – Passive Income & FREE Traffic

Digital Real Estate - Passive Income & FREE Traffic

I’ll make this quick…

If you want to make real money online…

Passively…

Without another shitty course…

Then you need to check out Digital Real Estate.

The concept is super simple:

Instead of running ads to sell cheap products, or selling your time to a client, you get to keep complete control!

  1. Pick a niche for a local service-based business (i.e. plumber in Nashville).
  2. Build an ugly little website that attracts customers organically (no ads!!!).
  3. A business owner pays you monthly “rent” to send the customers to them (but you still own the site).
  4. If the business owner stops paying, rent out the same site to their competitor for more money.
  5. Repeat the process in cities across the country.
